I love a pretty home, and I especially love pretty windows. That's why, over 18 years ago as a single mother of two trying to make ends meet, I went to work for a respected Atlanta designer to create custom window treatments for her clients.

Struggling to raise my kids, make a living, and going to college for my undergraduate and masters degrees, one of my professors said, "You'll never make it big doing window treatments unless you become ‘Drapes ‘R Us.’  "

That statement got me thinking. Having sewn many gorgeous draperies for the small group of people who could afford me over the years, I realized there were thousands of people who wanted custom draperies, but couldn't afford it. I wanted to offer those people something better than the rod pocket and over-the-rod draperies they could find in the stores - something that looked custom, but at a great price.

I soon developed the idea of a curtain rod that would work with hook and loop attachment surfaces similar to VELCRO® brand fasteners. With companion window treatments, it would be possible to have beautiful custom-look draperies that could be easily and quickly installed and removed in seconds.

With the encouragement of another teacher who was my mentor, creating my curtain rod became my masters project. Under her patient guidance, and with the help of classmates and numerous business professionals, I researched, designed, and developed my idea until my little curtain rod became real, and the foundation of what we now call the BREEZE® WINDOW TREATMENT SYSTEM.
